KINGWOOD -— Kingwood Water Board members reported the delivery of five new generators.
The generators were purchased with funds from a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grant.
Amy DeBerry, water clerk, said the generators are part of a project that includes concrete pads and security fencing.
New generators will be placed at the water plant, at pump stations and at water tanks.
DeBerry said they will insure the town has water if electrical systems are down.
“We have to be able to pump water from the river so we have clean drinking water,” DeBerry said.
In other business, Kingwood recently changed its billing system and the appearance of water bills.
Since the change, DeBerry said she has received numerous complaints that they look like disconnect notices.
“I usually have calls from customers about not receiving their bill. I haven’t received any of those this month,” she said about the new system.
During a field plant report, James Marks said he is has been checking storm drains and other areas for a “lingering leak” in a water line.
He said he is considering contacting Rural Water’s leak detection specialist to help find the leak. No action was taken.
