Fred Nelson, St. Clair, 78, of Morgantown, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2020, at Sundale Rehabilitation and Long-Term Care. He was born on Feb. 16, 1942, the son of the late Archie and Lula (Wrick) St. Clair.
Fred was a 1960 graduate of Morgantown High School. He went on to proudly serve in the National Guard Armory of which he served from 1968-1969.
Fred became the owner of Edgewater Mariana for over 30 years. He also established St. Clair Construction Company. He was a log home builder of which he had built many homes in the Cheat Lake area.
He was an avid hunter. He loved to deer hunt and always couldn’t wait for deer season to open. He went on large game hunting trips to Alaska, the Western states of Idaho and Wyoming. He also enjoyed going on deep sea fishing trips as well.
Fred was survived by his beloved brother, R. Scott St. Clair and his wife Donna, who was his caregiver. He was also survived by sisters, Madalene Sinclair (James Crockett), Nora Ralston and Evelyn Rhodes and husband John; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Dudley, Everett and Samuel St. Clair; and two sisters, Virginia Kelley and Betty Shulick.

Hastings Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no public services.
