Quarantine Kitchen: Easy Fried Green Tomatoes

Food@DominionPost.com

In The Dominion Post’s ongoing Wednesday feature, Quarantine Kitchen, we highlight dishes prepared by readers, staffers and chefs at our local restaurants, in an effort to keep us connected through food.

For this week’s installment, the owners of Madeleine Marie’s Catering & Carryout, Tasia and Tommy Thompson, offer  up a delicious recipe to make the most of those green tomatoes weighing down your garden vines.

By frying them, of course!

A quick basil aioli makes the perfect seasonal accompaniment.

Tomatoes turning red already,  Tasia Thompson asks?  Use eggplant, squash or zucchini instead.

You can save the red tomatoes for salads, BLTs — or that yummy Southern summer staple, the tomato-and-mayo sandwich.

Short on time — or green tomatoes of your own? No problem. Let Tommy and Tasia make them for you. This dish is available daily at Madeleine Marie’s, 260 Green St., Morgantown, during tomato season.

Hours are  4-8 p.m. Monday-Friday for carryout only.

To order, call 304-685-0516 or order online at madeleinemaries.com. A full menu is available on the site.
