Joseph “Joey” Morley McBee, 57, of Clarksburg, raised in Arthurdale, and also lived several years in Morgantown, left his earthly home after a brief battle with cancer at United Hospital Center on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2020 with family by his side. He was born June 11, 1963, in Morgantown, son of the late Joseph William and Martha Hazel Pitts McBee.
Joey graduated from West Preston High School, Class of 1981 and West Virginia Junior College. He was most recently working as a supervisor of campus service workers at West Virginia University and had been with WVU for close to 20 years. He loved antiquing, traveling and listening to gospel music. He was raised in the Reedsville United Methodist Church but would also attend the Coplin United Methodist Church and West Milford United Methodist Church on special occasions and with his family.
Joey is survived by his brother, C. Keith McBee; his sister, Ada Kay McBee, both of Arthurdale; close cousins, Bonnie Ann Fisher and Laura Irene Lewis, both of Morgantown, and Cheryl Richards, Eddy Pitts and Pam Pitts; close friend, Rick Puglese, of Clarksburg; his four-legged companion, Dutchess; and numerous additional relatives, friends and coworkers that were like family.
Friends may call at the Morgan Funeral Home in Reedsville from 3-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, and from 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, until the time of funeral service at 1 p.m. with the Rev. David Spence officiating. Interment will follow in the Arthurdale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Reedsville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 403, Reedsville, WV 26547. The family would like to thank United Hospital Center 7 North and Dr. Keesee for the care and love they showed for Joey and his family during this difficult time.
