Joann Geraldine Ketterman Butler, 75, of Wallace (Harrison County), passed away on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2020, at her home with family by her side. She was born April 15, 1945, in Fellowsville, daughter of the late James “Andy” Andrew and Myrtle Bennett Ketterman.
Joann was an insurance agent and owner of Butler Produce and Bakery. Her hobbies were cooking, canning and going to flea markets and Amish Country. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband, James Rodney Butler, whom she married on Dec. 29, 2010; five children, Edward Messenger and Sharon, of Fairmont, Lana Kantes and Robert, of Independence, Tina DeVaughn and Thomas Sr., of Follansbee, Gloria Fletcher and Jeffrey, of Ashland, Ky., and James Messenger and Deanna, of Newburg; two stepchildren, Amanda Kaye Dolan and Lee Ann Monk, both of Moundsville; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Mae Ketterman Huffman, of Morgantown; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by first husband, James E. Messenger Jr.; and her siblings, Frank Bolyard, Jacob Ketterman, James Ketterman and Talma Ketterman Isner.
Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Drive Clarksburg, WV 26301 from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18 and at Bolyard Funeral Home 79 Morgantown Ave, Newburg, WV 26410 from 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19 until the time of funeral service at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Leroy Haught officiating with proper distancing and face mask required. Interment will follow at Mt Zion Cemetery, Moatsville.
