Carl Rhodes

Carl Lee Rhodes, 87, of Tunnelton, passed away on Friday, Aug. 14, 2020, at home with loving family by his side.

He was born Nov. 6, 1932, in Tunnelton, a son of the late Lester V. and Hilda K. Weaver Rhodes.

Carl was a loving father, grandfather and brother. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was an owner/operator of trucks and heavy equipment most of his life. He was a co-owner/operator of the Rhodes Brothers Trucking in Parkersburg, began Tronagun Corporation, was the owner of the Western Auto Store in Oakland, Md. and owned and operated Preston Sanitation. He was a member of the Aurora Lodge #43, AF & AM in Newburg, a member of the DeMolay and the Commandery, both in Grafton, and a member of the Camp Chapel United Methodist Church.

Carl is survived by his two sons; Richard Rhodes and wife Marie and Ronald Rhodes and wife Marlene, all of Tunnelton; his daughter, Peggy Cochran and husband Terry, of Reedsville; four brothers, Perry Rhodes, of Tunnelton, Glenn Rhodes and wife Linda, Ronald Rhodes and wife, Carla and Dwight Rhodes and wife Donna, all of Parkersburg; two sisters, Karen Zinn and husband Charles and Martha Rosier and husband Douglas, all of Tunnelton; seven grandchildren, Tiffany Rhodes and Danial Annon, Dr. Lindsay Rhodes Jenkins and Kiley, Brock Rhodes and Jessica, Dr. Carly Cochran Lemley and Ryan, Kayla Cochran McCloud and Jason, Adam Rhodes and Dante and Cheyenne Rhodes and Brandon; 14 great-grandchildren, Karson, Aly, Mady, Landon, Rylee, Cam, Lyrick, Abbriella, Katie, Frankie, Blair, Barrett, Annistyn and Aiden; and his fur baby, Sophie.

He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Sandra Jean Wolfe Rhodes, in 2017; a brother, Paul B. Rhodes; and two sisters, Mary K. Rhodes and Anna Rhodes.

Family will receive friends at Browning Funeral Home in Kingwood, from 2-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18 with Life Celebrant Adam Rhodes officiating. Interment will follow in the Rhodes Cemetery. Aurora Lodge #43 AF & AmM, of Newburg, will conduct a masonic graveside service.

The family asks that a mask and social distancing be observed.
