Alice Zlotnikoff Raley, (Babe), 94, of Cassville, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2020, at Point Manor Personal Care Home in Point Marion, Pa. She was born May 1, 1926, to John and Anna Zlotnikoff, who were Russian immigrants. Babe was the youngest of seven sisters. She was very proud of her Russian heritage and continued to celebrate Russian holidays throughout the years.
She enjoyed passing along the traditions to her family. Babe resided in Cassville her entire life until May 2017 when she went to Point Manor Personal Care Home. She was a member of the Cassville Methodist Church. Babe married John David Raley in January 1942. They had two children, Barbara (Ed) Payne and Jim (Mary) Raley. She was a wonderful grandma to five grandchildren, John (Jennifer) Payne, Jeff (Paula) Payne, Jennifer (Todd) Forbes, John Raley and Nicole (David) Fusco, along with 11 great-grandchildren, who always put a smile on her face, and one great-great-grandson.
After her husband was drafted into the United States Marine Corps during World War II, Babe began working at Seneca Glass Factory. Over the years, she continued working for various glass factories. Babe, along with a close friend, became owners of Bailey Glass in Morgantown.
Babe is the last survivor of her family and her husband’s family. She was also preceded in death by her first grandson, John Edward Payne.
Babe loved the holidays and especially loved cooking for family and friends. She loved to dance and always had a good time surrounded by loved ones. She would give lessons to anyone who gave her the time. Babe was even teaching the nurses at Point Manor how to dance. Her love for music from the Big Band era to the 1950s has left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Babe was always on top of the latest fashion trends and she enjoyed shopping with her daughter and granddaughter. Babe was a very hard worker in and out of the home. She also enjoyed getting into political discussions with her staunch democratic views.
Along with her family, she is survived by a special nephew; nieces and their families who cared for her deeply, John Pride, Carolyn Pride-Gizzi, Sandy Pride (Bill Pride), and Saundra Sue Hass-Christopher.
The family would like to thank the staff at Point Manor for their loving care, treating our mom like their own, and the support they showed.
Private services will be held at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown. Per the Governor and CDC pandemic guidelines, all visitors are required to wear face masks and practice social distancing. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
