KINGWOOD — A 30-year-old Thornton man is accused of giving a 17-year-old marijuana and sexually assaulting her while she was unconscious.
James John Edward Bolyard is charged with second-degree sexual assault, a felony. His bond was set at $25,000.
According to the criminal complaint by State Police Trooper C.E. Smith, the juvenile came to police in April, after the alleged assault. She said Bolyard was at a gathering she attended at a friend’s house.
The victim said she drank alcohol, then smoked marijuana that Bolyard gave her. She blacked out and when she awoke the next morning she thought she had been assaulted.
The trooper said Bolyard said he’d had sex with the victim, that he knew she was intoxicated and he had given her marijuana.
Bolyard said he was “completely sober,” but the victim couldn’t walk alone. Another person who was at the gathering confirmed that the victim was extremely intoxicated and unable to walk alone.
