Clarence Fraley

Clarence William Fraley, 87, of Kingwood, died on Sunday, Aug. 2, 2020, at Mon Health Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 8, 1932, in Terra Alta, a son of the late Joseph Roy and Rettie Flo (DeWitt) Fraley.

In 1956 Clarence opened Fraley Motors and was the youngest Pontiac dealer in the United States. Clarence and his wife Jean operated the dealership for 62 years before retiring in 2010 after being the next to last Pontiac Dealer to close the GM brand of Pontiac. Clarence served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He was most recently a member of the First United Methodist Church in Terra Alta and enjoyed time with his family, especially spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his son and spouse, David R. and Loretta Fraley; two grandchildren, David Fraley, and Craig and Rose Fraley; and two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Todd Fraley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Dortha Jean (Grimm) Fraley, on Oct. 29, 2018; and two brothers, Nelson Fraley and John Fraley.

Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Lobb Kingwood Chapel, 295 South Price St. from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, and from noon Wednesday, August 5, until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Joe Lamm officiating. Interment will follow at the Terra Alta Cemetery.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of doctors and nurses on the 4th floor of Mon General Hospital and a special thanks to Dr. Michael V. O’Keefe for the wonderful care of Mr. Fraley.
