After two weeks of disruption because of positive COVID-19 tests by employees of the Monongalia County Justice Center, in-person services will resume for magistrate and circuit court on Monday.
Monongalia County Magistrate Court will return to normal staffing, hold hearings and offer in-person services on Monday, according to Magistrate Clerk Kandy McCauley.
The Circuit Clerk’s Office will resume in-person services, though people are still encouraged to handle their business by phone. Most services can be done via the phone, a deputy clerk said.
Chief Judge Cindy Scott, Judge Susan Tucker and Judge Phillip Gaujot will all resume in-person hearings on Monday.
The building was closed the week of July 13 after two employees who worked in the building tested positive for COVID-19.
The week of July 20, the building re-opened but individual judges and the magistrate court closed for in-person business for an additional week.
Magistrate Court continued to hold in-person hearings for legally mandated time-sensitive matters, such as arraignments, preliminary hearings, and protective orders.
