Douglas Eugene Harvey, 39, of Morgantown, formerly of Elk Garden, died Monday, July 27, 2020, at his residence.
Born on Nov. 25, 1980, in Oakland, Md., he was a son of Ellis L. and Mary L. (Secrist) Harvey of Elk Garden. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dempsey and Leona Harvey and Virgil and Pearl Secrist.
Douglas was a 1999 graduate of Union High School. He was employed as a social worker with WVU Medicine and was also formerly employed with Big Brothers/Big Sisters in Morgantown. Douglas loved his family, his job and the people that he worked with, but when Friday evening came it was “camp time!” He loved going to the camp, floating on the river and exercising and running.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, is his brother, Jayson Harvey and wife Sarah, of Cumberland, Md.; his sister, Michelle Daugherty and husband Les, of Elk Garden; nieces and nephews, Alex, Brandon, Samantha, Dakota and Mercy and a grandnephew, Eli. Also surviving is a special aunt, Linda Shillingburg, of Terra Alta; a special family friend, Faith Thompson, of Morgantown; and a large number of friends, professional colleagues and extended family members.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2 with Minister Tammy Twigg officiating.
Due to the current health concerns, face masks or coverings are required and guests are asked to please observe all social distancing guidelines.
Interment will be in the Kalbaugh Cemetery, Elk Garden.
