Robert Chad Smith 55, of Fairmont, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. He was born on May 3, 1965, in Fairmont, the son of Karolyn and Bob Smith.
He is survived by his two children Tori Smith and Cam Smith, his brother Greg Smith, sister-in-law Kim Smith, and his niece Sofia Smith. He is the grandson of the late Carl and Maxine Pigott and Gene and Datha Smith.
Chad attended Fairmont Catholic School, Miller Junior High School and graduated Fairmont Senior High School with the class of ’83. He attended Potomac State College and went on to work at Valley Distributing and JNS Machine Company. In 1998, he became the owner and operator of Middletown Manufacturing and ran it for 22 years.
In his younger days, he was a member of the Tygart Valley water ski club and was an avid boater. He enjoyed skiing, barefooting, wake surfing, golfing and going to concerts. He was also a member of Immaculate Conception Parish. Chad was loved by many and made friends everywhere he went. He was a humble and giving man whose laughter filled the room.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
