Alfred Nichols, 83, of Little River, S.C., formerly of Morgantown, passed away at his home. He was born on July 9, 1936, in Morgantown, son of the late Samuel Lucas Nichols and Della (Corulli) Nichols.
Alfred moved to Myrtle Beach, S.C., in the late ‘70s where he was the proprietor of several businesses including a commercial real estate company; several restaurants; a commercial linen service; a restaurant kitchen designer and as a retailer of new and used restaurant equipment.
Al was a genuine, generous and loving family man. He loved his family and extended family more than anything and his real joy was the time spent in the kitchen or around the table with his loved ones sharing family recipes and traditions along with great food, drink and stories of days gone by and days yet to come; a family practice instilled in him from his parents. He inevitable leaves a large void in our family’s traditions and will be deeply missed by all who knew him, his warmth and his strikingly infectious smile.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marsha (Schuster) Nichols; daughters, Monica Nichols and Andrea Coleman and husband, Mathew, of whom both daughters reside along with their children, in Cary, N.C.; grandchildren, Emilie, Andrew and Daniel Coleman; sister, Mary Hastings and brother-in-law, Dewey “Smith” Hastings, both of Morgantown; nephews, Dan and Dewey Hastings, both of Morgantown; and great nephews and great nieces; Mathew Hastings, of Columbus, Ohio, Grant, Teddy, Mary Elizabeth Hastings, and Jennifer Ann Hastings and husband Patrick Kyle, all of Morgantown.
