MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Oklahoma is the favorite to win its sixth-straight Big 12 championship, while WVU was picked to finish eighth, the conference announced Friday. The preseason poll was a survey of media members who cover the conference.
Oklahoma State and Texas also received first-place votes and were also picked second and third.
The Mountaineers were picked eighth last season and finished tied for seventh with a 3-6 record. The Mountaineers are an even 36-36 in Big 12 play since they joined the conference in 2012, with their best finish coming in 2016, tying for second with a 7-2 mark.
