South Park Road Work

Sprinkler fire line installed downtown at the public library

On Thursday, portions of streets in South Park were closed for most of the day as Morgantown Utility Board workers repaired roads.

Streets affected included Wilson Avenue,  and Simpson   and Jefferson streets.

A MUB crew also installed a new fire line for a sprinkler system at the Morgantown Public Library’s downtown location. The library has been closed temporarily after a main water line break. Via social media, the library shared that no library books or materials were damaged due to the leak. At this time, there is no clear completion date for the work.

MUB has also finished installation of stormwater pipe on Baldwin Street, which entailed  installing about 1,400 feet of 18-inch pipe and seven manholes.

“We are now finalizing work on a few storm drops and will begin road restoration following that,” according to a post on MUB’s Facebook page. “We expect road work to begin the week of July 27 and last three to four weeks.

“Work at the University Avenue and Collins Ferry Road intersection will begin next week.”

When the traffic plan and work schedule is finalized with the West Virginia Division of Highways, MUB will share the details.
