WVU Medicine
Two new health care providers will join WVU Medicine’s Primary Care team at Marion Medical Associates in Fairmont in the coming weeks.
Dr. Peter Ang will close his private practice and join WVU Medicine effective July 31, and Hallie Gunnoe, P.A.-C., will join the office as a family medicine physician assistant effective Aug. 17. They will join Dr. David Watson, a family medicine physician already with the practice.
Ang has been serving the Marion County community for the past 27 years. He graduated from the University of the Philippines College of Medicine, completed an internal medicine residency at Wayne State University, and a geriatrics fellowship at Harvard Medical School. There will be no interruption in service as he transitions from private practice to the Marion Medical Associates office.
Gunnoe completed her undergraduate studies at Fairmont State University, where she was a member of the Lady Falcons basketball team and earned all-conference honors for her play. A native of Hinton, she completed her Master of Physician Assistant studies at the University of Charleston.
In addition, Dr. Richard Simpson will relocate from Marion Medical Associates to the WVU Medicine Primary Care practice in Connellsville, Pa., effective Sept. 1. Simpson practiced in Fairmont for nearly 30 years and is taking the opportunity to relocate closer to family.
Primary care providers treat patients of all ages, including infants, children, adults and seniors. They offer general wellness exams, gynecologic exams, and well-child visits, among other services. They get to know the patient and his or her medical and family history and can recommend screenings, as well as identify and treat many minor problems before they become major ones.
A primary care provider should be the first point of contact for anyone experiencing undiagnosed symptoms or medical concerns. If more specialized care is required, the provider will coordinate a referral with a WVU Medicine specialist.
Marion Medical Associates is at 1912 Locust Avenue in Fairmont. For an appointment, call 855-WVU-CARE.
