Erik Tyler Jones, 32, of Whitehall, took Jesus’ hand and entered paradise on June 28, 2020, while at home.
He was born on Nov. 23, 1987, in Fairmont, to Ronald and Rebecca Jones. He was a 2006 graduate of North Marion High School where he lettered in football and baseball; he also attended Fairmont State University and studied graphic arts. Erik was a member of Gateway United Methodist Church, where he was baptized as a child and later confirmed into the church as a teenager. He previously worked as a natural gas pipeline inspector and most recently as a cook at the Texas Roadhouse, in Clarksburg.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents; Janet Anderson, of Parkersburg, Oscar Anderson, of Belpre, Ohio, and paternal grandfather Sherwood Jones, of Hutchinson, W.Va.
Erik is survived by twin daughters, Emilia Ann Jones and Sophia Marie Jones, of Whitehall, his paternal grandmother, Josephine (Joey) Jones, of Hutchinson, W.Va., maternal step-grandmother Bonita Anderson, of Belpre, Ohio, siblings Kylie Marie Jones and fiancé Brandon Price, of Whitehall, Cory Jones, wife Joni and niece Adeline Grace, of Morgantown. In addition, mourning his loss are aunts and uncles; Jeffrey Anderson and his wife Alison Armour, of Eagle River, Ala., Mary Clark and husband, John, of Parkersburg, Mark Anderson and his wife Angela, of Annandale, Va., Vanessa Rodriguez and niece Rayanna Aubrey, of Fairmont. He also leaves behind special friend, Molly Martin of Whitehall, several cousins and many friends.
Erik was a talented artist who enjoyed reading, especially Stephen King and history related books, cooking, photography, following the WVU Mountaineers and Boston Red Sox, rescuing stray cats, time outdoors, listening to music and playing video games. He will be remembered for his beautiful smile and the unceasing love he had for his daughters.
In accordance with Erik’s wishes, his body will be cremated. Our dear son deserves a beautiful tribute. However, we appreciate in the unknown time with the COVID-19 pandemic that attending a visitation may not be in your best interest. Please be with us in prayer.
If you are able to join us in celebrating Erik’s life, we will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, July 2. A service to celebrate Erik’s life will be held in the funeral home at 2 p.m. Friday, July 3.
