Barbara Arlene Courtney, age 71, of Morgantown, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2020, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
She was born July 13, 1948, in Newport, R.I., a daughter of the late Henry Joseph and Beatrice Catherine (Phillips) Dunphy.
Barbara was an amazing homemaker who lit up every room she entered. Her hobbies included caring for family, thrifting and playing bingo. She was a loving mother and grandmother who always put everyone else first before herself.
Survivors include her two daughters, Amy Cook and her husband Josh, of Morgantown, and Samantha Courtney, with whom she made her home; four grandchildren, Phenix, Draven, Ava and Jack; four siblings, Lynda Dunphy, Catherine Kehoe, Deborah Golden and Patricia Haynes; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell W. Courtney; her son, Edward R. O’Brien Jr.; and siblings, Thomas J. Dunphy and Henry J. Dunphy Jr.
At her request, Barbara will be cremated, and no public services will be held.
