REEDSVILLE — Work has begun on Reedsville town hall and the town park.
In May council voted to hire Hannah Electric in Newburg to do the electrical work on town hall. Reedsville Mayor Jason Titus said the bid of $3,000 by the company included the cost of both labor and materials.
Tree trimming in the Reedsville park has been completed.
Earlier, the West Virginia Ethics Commission ruled Titus would have to give council a quote for his business to trim the trees. In seeking bids for the work, two contractors were contacted but neither responded.
The Tituses own Brown’s Mill Excavating LLC and Brown’s Mill LP Service. Because Jason Titus serves as mayor of Reedsville and his wife Britney is a councilwoman, the Ethics Commission has to approve any work they do for the town.
In other business, Titus said attorneys and Clear Mountain Bank have been contacted and given the information to begin a purchase agreement between the Town of Reedsville and Reedsville Investment Properties LLC and the lease/loan process to buy land.
During a recent special meeting, council unanimously voted to purchase the about one-quarter to one-half acres of property at 215 S. Robert Stone Way and the parcel next to it towards the S turn.
The property will cost the town $45,000.
The next meeting of the Reedsville council will be 6:30 p.m. July 13.
