Betty Jo Atkins, 89, of Morgantown, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2020. Betty was born in Morgantown on April 4, 1931, to the late Robert and Iva Workman Bonnett.
Betty was first an amazing homemaker, cooking and caring for her family. She also worked part-time as a nurse at Mon Health Medical Centerl and did secretarial work for all the family businesses. Betty loved to travel and was fortunate to visit Africa, China, South America, Europe and many Caribbean islands.
Betty loved animals, especially dogs. In her free time, she traced the roots of her family ancestry.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Carol Atkins; her son, David Atkins and wife Carolyn Atkins; daughter-in-law, Vicki Atkins; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Earl “Bud” Atkins; two sons, Richard Atkins and Edward Atkins; eight brothers; and three sisters.
Private services will be held at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home. Betty will be laid to rest at East Oak Grove Cemetery.
