Doris Idella Bell 97, of Carrollton, Ohio, and formerly of Rowlesburg, died Monday, June 15, 2020, at the home of her daughter in Carrollton.
She was born April 29, 1923, in Tunnelton, a daughter of the late Delbert and Jessie Sigley Funk.
Mrs. Bell was a loving mother, grandmother and homemaker. She loved to quilt and crochet and was Methodist by faith. She was a cook at Cool Springs Park for 16 years. When living in Preston County, Doris loved going to the Senior Center and their senior trips.
Doris is survived by her two sons, Delbert C. Bell and wife, Sue, of Rowlesburg and Charles W. Bell and wife, Faye, of Fellowsville; her daughter, Virginia Salsgiver and companion, James Lipscomb, of Carrollton; and 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee (Red) Bell in 2005; her brothers, Lester and Howard Funk; and her sisters, Leta Jo Funk, Dorothy Simpson, Violet Holyfield, Gertrude Goff and Opal Wolfe.
The family would like to thank the caregivers from Hospice Care of New Philly for their care of Mrs. Bell along with granddaughter, Kellie Nester for her loving support.
Friends may call at the Burke Funeral Home in Rowlesburg from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 18 and from noon-1 p.m., the funeral hour, Friday, June 19 with the Rev. Gary Weaver officiating. Interment will follow in Flag Chapel Cemetery. For visitation and the funeral, social distancing and masks are recommended.
