MORGANTOWN —
Bond is set at $500,000 for a Morgantown man accused of committing armed robbery in Morgantown on Sunday.
Daeshawn Martin Coleman, 19, was in the North Central Regional Jail Monday. He is also charged with conspiracy. Both charges are felonies.
According to a criminal complaint by Morgantown Police Patrolman 1st Class D.J. Moore, the victim told police three men entered his home, placed a sheet over his head and placed a gun next to his head while they robbed him, “stating that they would kill him if he moved and telling the victim ‘I wish you would.’”
The complaint says officers were dispatched to a burglary call about 5:30 a.m. Sunday on Huntington Avenue. The caller told 911 he was outside but his roommate was being held inside at gunpoint by several robbers. The caller heard a gunshot.
The complaint does not explain how the caller escaped the residence.
As officers approached, three men wearing face coverings emerged from the side of the house. One, later identified as Coleman, was carrying a composite bow case in one hand and an AK-47 pistol in the other hand.
The three men began to flee over the hill towards Buckhannon Avenue. Coleman, after being ordered by police, dropped the gun and was detained. The other two ran into the woods, dropping a duffel bag of stolen property. Officers were unable to continue the pursuit due to manpower needed at the residence, according to the complaint.
Coleman admitted that he drove the trio to the residence to commit an armed robbery, according to the complaint
