At Meadow Green Stables, off Kingwood Pike, campers learn skills that will help them on and off the horses — their companions this week.
The five-day camp, which wraps up today, is intended to educate children on the needs and care of horses, as well as build confidence and improve socialization skills.
Campers learn first aid, horsemanship, riding skills, horse behavior and communication, terminology, equipment care, diet and basic duties involving horse ownership.
They also play games, bathe horses, make horse treats, make crafts, go for a nature walk, pick blackberries and play in the creek.
