KINGWOOD — A Terra Alta woman pleaded no contest to child neglect after someone reported her 5-year-old was walking along the highway alone.
Sabrina Lee Greaser, 40, was ordered to pay a total of $465.50 in fines and court costs for charges of misdemeanor child neglect and providing false information to a trooper.
According to the criminal complaint by State Police Trooper J.L. Anglin, on Friday a neighbor told officers he had seen Greaser’s daughter “walking close to the roadway with no parents within the area.” The roadway was W.Va. 7 and traffic was going by at 55 mph, the neighbor said.
Greaser was allegedly told the child was along the road and picked her up at the neighbor’s home. “Several hours later” the child was at the road again, according to the witness, so he contacted the child’s father.
The child told the trooper she walked alone from her mother’s residence to the garage where her father was. That was about 100 yards, according to the complaint.
Greaser told the officer “she had nothing to do with her daughter being by W.Va. 7 extremely close to oncoming traffic.”
