Roger Lynn Wolfe, 71, of Kingwood, passed away June 3, 2020, after a courageous attempt at a lung transplant at UPMC and a long battle with Alpha-1 lung disease.
He was born April 5, 1949, in the mountains of Kingwood, son of the late Erbie and Georgia (Metheny) Wolfe, the ninth of 10 children.
He is mourned by his partner of 47 years, Nillia Sapp. They were blessed with two boys, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; Roger Wolfe Jr. and spouse Marsha; grandchildren, Dennis and Dylan Wolfe and Anthony Wolfe and spouse Nicole Sulick-Wolfe; grandchildren, Miranda and Aaron Wolfe and Alexandria Sulick; great-grandchildren, Axton and Waylon DuPont, all of Kingwood; by six sisters and two brothers; Florence Hillery, of Mentor, Ohio, Loretta Comer and spouse, of Medina, Ohio, Hubert Wolfe and spouse, of Kingwood, Marie Wolfe, of Lady Lake, Fla., Harland Wolfe, of Kingwood, Vivian “Sue” Gagen, of Phoenixville, Pa., Phyllis Hamon, of Kingwood, and Dianna Duesler and spouse, of Lady Lake, Fla., and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Roger was an avid deer hunter, a carpenter and an antique collector. He was a jack of all trades and could tinker with almost anything. He loved to go to sales and find his treasures; even with the love he had for his hobbies, nothing compared to the love he had for his family. He was very close to his long time love Nillia, his children, siblings and friends. Roger was quick to give advice and helped both sons with every aspect of their lives. Often he could be found on the front porch with a cup of coffee in his hands speaking with those he held dear. He was a strategist and excellent at card games.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Wolfe; grandchild, Alana Sulick; brother-in-law, George Hillery; four nephews, Shawn Wolfe, Jeff Comer, Dennis Hillery and Chris Johnson; and a niece, Kimberly Wolfe.
Family will receive friends at Browning Funeral Home in Kingwood at 1 p.m. Wednesday June 10 where service will be held with Pastor Kelly Gamble officiating. Interment to follow in the Maplewood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, we ask family and friends to donate to the American Lung Association at www.lung.org. or at American Lung Association, P.O. Box 11039, Lewiston, ME 04243-9409
