Melissa Gregg

Melissa Jane King Gregg, 60, of Star City, passed away Monday, June 8, 2020 at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. She
was born March 24, 1960, at the USAF Base in Massachusetts, a daughter of Norman King and Gerri Gilleland King, of Wilson, N.C.

Melissa was a 1978 graduate of Laurel Highlands High School where she was a member of the color guard. She worked for HKBT Surgical for 24 years and concluded her working career for Mon Health as a coder abstractor. She loved spending every minute with her grandson Lantz and spending time with her family. Melissa also enjoyed vacationing at the beach and the Smokey Mountains. While she was always available to do any type of fishing or watch the Pirates play, she was just as content to sit in her rocking chair on her porch with a good cup of coffee.

Melissa was a loving daughter, wife and grandmother. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

In addition to her parents, Melissa is survived by her husband of 12 years and constant companion of 27 years, Gary Gregg; her son, Joshua Rhodes, his fiancée Shasta Bell and grandson, Lantz Rhodes, of Morgantown; brother, David King and nephew Chase King, of Manteo, N.C.; sister Joyce Essick, of Outer Banks, N.C.; niece, Lauren Cannon, husband Bryan and son Riley, of Wilson, N.C.; nephew, Jeremy Essick, of Outer Banks, N.C.; sister-in-law, Kathy Gregg Billoti, of Morgantown, and her family Matthew Billoti, Sarah Billotti and Mark Billotti, all from Morgantown; and sister-in-law, Sandy Gregg Newhouse and husband Mark Newhouse, of Morgantown, and her family Jeffery Gregg and Heather Gregg, and the Gregg family of Joan, Robin and Todd, all of Morgantown.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the professionals from Mon Health and J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital for their love and care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Melissa’s memory to your favorite charity.
