Mary Favino, 93, of Morgantown, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at the Genesis Madison Center. She was born on May 27, 1927, daughter of the late Carlo and Angela Favino, Italian immigrants who came to West Virginia by way of Ellis Island and made Morgantown their home. Mary graduated from Morgantown High and retired from the West Virginia Publishing Company after 47 years. She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.
Her favorite pastimes were dining out with friends (and wrestling them for the check), gardening and playing cards with the Canasta Club. She was forever giving gifts to friends and numerous charities. She loved Sudoku, Dunkin Donuts and clipping recipes (which she never cooked as she was too busy taking her friends out to lunch). She was the supervisor of the annual decorating of the family Christmas tree where she will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her adopted family, godson, Tom Luckini, wife Karen and children Katie, Thomas, and Mary Helen, as well as cousins in Italy. She had many wonderful friends and neighbors that she loved dearly.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, also named Mary. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation services will be provided by Hastings Funeral Home and Omega Crematory. She will be interred at East Oak Grove next to her parents. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made on Mary’s behalf to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 1 Guthrie Lande, Morgantown, WV 26508, or to a charity of your choosing.
