A woman who was shot in the head on Pedlar Run Road and taken to J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital by helicopter on Wednesday evening has died.
In a release, the victim is identified as Jane Wynette Sharak, 42, from Core.
Monongalia County Sheriff Perry Palmer said she was shot as part of a domestic-related incident and an investigation is ongoing.
Travis Anderson, 33, of Morgantown, called 911 and said he made a “really bad mistake” and shot his fiance during a fight, according to a criminal complaint.
Deputies interviewed Anderson who said he and the victim were in an argument inside their vehicle while parked in the driveway, the complaint said. During the argument, Anderson pulled a loaded revolver from the center console and while holding it in his left hand, he raised it towards the victim in “frustration” and one shot was fired.
Anderson is charged with wanton endangerment. He is being held in North Central Regional Jail in lieu of $250,000 bond.
Deputies responded to the shooting about 6:18 p.m., Palmer said.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 304-291-7128.
