Stanley Christopher

Stanley Benton Christopher, 70, of Fairmont, joined those who had gone before him on Monday, June 1, 2020. He passed peacefully at his residence and is now happy, healthy and surrounded by his beloved family and pets in Heaven.

He was born in Morgantown on June 26, 1949, a son of the late Edward “Paul” Christopher and Helen Zilkanich Christopher.

On Nov. 21, 1971, he married the love of his life, Kathryn Rose Kyle. Together they shared more than 48 years and she will miss him dearly.

Stan is survived by his wife, Kathryn Christopher, of Fairmont; two daughters, Jane Renee Warren, of Charlotte, N.C., and Megan Lynn Bragg and husband Aaron, of Salem (Harrison County); three grandchildren, Austyn Warren and Kaden and Tucker Bragg; one sister, Jane Christopher Busby, of Morgantown; and several nieces and nephews.

Stan graduated from Morgantown High School. He worked as a coal miner for over 30 years in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Stan loved the “great outdoors” and camping at Big Bear Lake and the shanty in Pisgah. He also enjoyed sports and watching the West Virginia University Mountaineers. Stan also had a deep love for animals and was an active volunteer with the local cat rescues.

His family affectionately referred to Stan as “Clark Griswold” and they will always think of him when they watch “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.” “Stan the Man” was loved deeply and will be missed by all who knew him.

Stan’s request for cremation has been honored and a private celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

We, at Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service located at 144 Hackers Creek Road in Jane Lew, are honored and privileged to serve the family of Stanley Benton Christopher.
