Ronald Wesley Mason, 63, passed away Friday, May 29, 2020, at Mid-Michigan Hospice House, Lansing, Mich., in the presence of family and friends.
He is survived by his parents, William and Constance Drake Mason, of Morehead City, N.C.; two brothers, William Mason and Sandra Ludwig, of Oakton, Va., and James and Kathleen Mason, of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and one sister, Suzanne Mason, of Cleveland, Tenn. Extended family includes uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Planning on a career in public service, Ron graduated from Central Michigan University in 1978, as a political science major. He would have worked well crossing party lines as evidenced by the names he gave his pet cats: Hoover, Franklin, Eleanor, and Eisenhower.
The family wishes to extend sincere thanks and gratitude to the following for their love and support of Ron through the years of sickness until his final moments: Marie George, of Pewamo, Mich.; Larry Fisher, of East Lansing, Mich; and Jack Gardner, of Texas.
Ron wished it known how grateful he was “for all the people I have known, who have helped me become the person I am.”
Thank you to the Mid-Michigan Hospice House for the excellent care and support of Ron, including the nursing staff, social services director Kathleen Gurda and security services for being so gracious to his visitors. Thank you Mary Conklin of the Conklin Law Firm for your compassion and guidance.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Ron’s favorite charity, an organization that provides relief and assistance to underprivileged children in Appalachia: God’s Mission Outreach, 110 Main Street, Box 302 Maple Rapids, MI 48853.
Private services will be held in the Morgan Funeral Home, Reedsville, Thursday, June 4, with the Rev. Vicki D. Sheppard officiating. Interment to follow in Morgan Memorial Park.
Morgan Funeral Home is honored to serve the Mason family.
