Charles Plum

Charles Russell Plum, 80, of Newburg, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2020, after a short illness. Charles “Buck” was born July 25, 1939, in Howesville, to Russell and Eulalah Carter Plum.

Charles was a great man who brought love and laughter to all that he touched. He showed his love to all by joking, giving a punch in the arm or by sharing his lively songs or poems. Charles worked as a laborer, moulder, construction worker foreman, mechanic, machine operator and truck driver. He retired from Sunrise Construction.

He attended Newburg United Methodist Church. Charles and his beloved wife, Marcina, resided in Newburg.

He is survived by his wife of sixty two years, Marcina (Mitter) Plum; one son, Charles “Chuck” (Teressa) Plum, of Newburg; and two daughters, Pam (John) Trickett, of Gladesville, and Brenda (Eric) DeBastiani, of Morgantown. Charles was the proud grandfather of seven, Jason (Danielle) Trickett, Wesley (Dianna) Trickett, Brandon (Kristen) Plum, Latricia (Alex) Wolfe, Cody DeBastiani, Brianna (Sam) Wilson and Megan DeBastiani. Charles was also the proud great-grandfather of 10, Laney Trickett, Jaden Plum, Cole Trickett, Alivia Plum, Tucker Plum, Jake Trickett, Hunter Trickett, Hallie Wolfe, Audrey Wolfe and Brooke Wolfe (and Aubrey Shipp). He is also survived by three sisters, Dorothy Casteel and Bonnie Nelson, of Newburg, and Roberta (Rick) Faulknier, of Morgantown; and two brothers, Jack (Marty), of Tunnelton, and Calvin (Doris), of Independence. He is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Betty and Kathy, of Newburg, and Connie, of Brooklyn, Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Paul, Donald, Martin, Francis and John.

Family will receive friends at Bolyard Funeral Home from 2-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, with proper distancing and face mask required. A graveside service will be held at Pratt Cemetery at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 4 with Pastor David Freeman officiating.
