Thelma McGinnis

Thelma Ann Brummage McGinnis, 80, of Morgantown, went home to her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 28, 2020, after a battle with cancer.
Thelma was the foster daughter of the late Sophie West and raised in a good Christian home. She was a home-maker and held several retail jobs, a nanny for Pediatrician Dr. Luna Iskander, cared for her grandchildren and other children in her home. She was a full-time care giver for her husband Larry.

She was a member at Living by Faith Church for decades and served as a volunteer for VBS under the Rev. David Tomer. After his retirement, she joined Cornerstone Ministries pastored by her son Greg McGinnis. She was proud of her family and blessed to have two sons serving the Lord in their ministries, Pastor David McGinnis of Heartland Worship Center Church of God, in Topeka, Kan.

She loved to shop, travel, watch the birds, see her flowers bloom each year and most of all family dinners at her home. She was a great mother and always looked out for her family. She instilled the word of God and great values in her children and grandchildren from a young age. She would take anything in and give it a home. She always said “If you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all.” She was loved by all, we know heaven will be a much better place. She will be deeply missed, her memory will forever live on.

Thelma is survived by her four children, Mary Riffle and Kenney, of Morgantown, David McGinnis and Jan of Topeka, Kan., Renee Pforr and Mike Campbell, of Morgantown, and Greg McGinnis and Crystal, of Johnstown, Pa.; grandchildren Matthew Riffle and Lisa, Justin Pforr and Desiree, Jessica Pforr, Lindsay McGinnis, all of Morgantown, Kara (McGinnis) Dillard and Christopher, Jordan McGinnis and Kyndal, of Cleveland, Tenn., Andrew McGinnis, of Johnstown, Pa., Carlie and Wyatt McGinnis, of Clarksburg; great-grandchildren Kyla and Kaylee Riffle, Lucas, Stacy, Shyann and Liam Pforr, Jocelyn and Brooklyn McGinnis, all of Morgantown, Gracelynn and Garrett Dillard, Olivia and baby McGinnis due Dec. 5, 2020, all of Cleveland, Tenn. Brother-in-law Jim Crandall and Janet, of Kingwood, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 39 years, Larry McGinnis; mother, Sophie West; daughter, Tammy Sue McGinnis; great grandchild, Kyle Eugene Riffle; sisters, Barbara Buell and Ella Crandall; and brothers, Harold Ray and Bill Brummage.

Hastings Funeral Home is assisting the family with private services and a memorial service will be held at a later date. She will be laid to rest at Beverly Hills Memorial Garden.
