Mon Health System said it is joining Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Health Network’s clinically integrated network group purchasing organization to secure better pricing and sourcing of medical supplies.
The health care provider also said it is partnering with AHN’s Cardiovascular Institute to establish a heart failure program at its Morgantown flagship hospital. The agreements also give AHN its first presence in West Virginia.
“We are so pleased to collaborate with AHN services and programs to enhance our offerings to our patients,” said David Goldberg, president and CEO of Mon Health.
CIN is a physician-led partnership of both independent and AHN physicians that coordinates care for nearly 250,000 patients across various medical specialties and care sites with the goal of creating better patient outcomes and experiences.
Known as Physician Partners of Western Pennsylvania, CIN will also give Mon Health physicians access to advanced clinical and claims-based analytics and predictive modeling. It will also give Mon Health the opportunity to participate in Alternative Payment Models.
Starting in June, Christopher Link, an AHN cardiologist and heart failure specialist will join the staff of Mon Health Medical Center. Goldberg said Link will begin a heart failure clinic. Link came to AHN in 2019 from Maine Medical Partners.
“Allegheny Health Network is always excited to collaborate with outstanding providers like Mon Health System who share our commitment to the highest standards of clinical excellence and value-based care,” AHN President and CEO Cynthia Hundorfean, said. “We look forward to working with the leadership of Mon Health System to help support their mission of service to the people of north-central West Virginia.
Earlier this week, Mon Health entered into a clinical affiliation with Charleston Area Medical Center in an effort to tackle West Virginia’s high rates of heart disease, cancer, diabetes, obesity and the ongoing opioid epidemic.
