A Fairview woman is facing multiple charges after allegedly sideswiping a vehicle while driving impaired.

Carissa D. Chisler, 37, is charged with DUI, driving while license revoked for DUI, driving while license revoked, destruction of property, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to stop and no proof of insurance by the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department.

At about 3:30 p.m. May 22, a 911 caller reported a white Pontiac sedan was driving recklessly on Fairmont Road before turning onto Little Indian Creek Road, according to a criminal complaint.

About an hour later, another caller said they were sideswiped by a white Pontiac on Mason Dixon Highway, near the Brave Bridge intersection in Blacksville, the complaint said. The Pontiac didn’t stop and lost its mirror in the crash.

At 6:41 p.m., a call reported the “obviously impaired” female driver of a white Pontiac Bonneville was leaving the parking lot of a Kroger gas station, the complaint said.

A state trooper was in the area looking for the car and saw it not stop at two stop signs, according to the complaint. The trooper stopped the vehicle and another trooper assisted him with the stop.

The car was missing its driver’s side mirror and the driver, Chisler, had slurred speech, was slow to answer questions, had dilated pupils and showed impairment on all parts of the standard field sobriety test, the complaint said.

She passed a breath test and was arrested for DUI.

Chisler had no proof of insurance and the registration on the vehicle didn’t match it, the complaint said.

At the sheriff’s department, Chisler passed a breath sample which showed a BAC of 0.000, according to the complaint. A Morgantown Police Department, who is a drug recognition expert, said she was under the influence of a depressant after conducting an exam.

Chisler is being held in North Central Regional Jail in lieu of $10,000 bond.
