YCF awards almost $26K to assist nonprofits during COVID-19

Your Community Foundation of North Central West Virginia Inc. awarded 11 more grants totaling $25,870 to assist nonprofits in addressing the immediate impacts of COVID-19, focusing on needs related to food, shelter and safety.

To date, more than $66,000 have been awarded to local nonprofits through YCF’s Emergency Impact Fund, and grant applications continue to be accepted.

The most recent grants from YCF’s Emergency Impact Fund were awarded to: Cross of Christ Community Church (Giver’s Hand Community Food Pantry); Masontown United Methodist Church (Valley District Food Pantry); Milan Puskar Health Right; Mon Valley Habitat for Humanity; Pantry Plus More Inc.; Preston County Schools; Progressive Women’s Association; Salvation Army of Harrison County; Salvation Army of Taylor County; The Change Initiative; and The Community Kitchen Inc.

Recognizing the unprecedented challenges faced by the nonprofit community, YCF provided an initial $10,000 to establish this non-endowed, emergency fund. Businesses, foundations and individuals in the community have joined the effort, making generous contributions.

To-date, $150,000 has been donated to YCF’s Emergency Impact Fund. Significant gifts have been received from the DTE Foundation, Giant Eagle Foundation, EQT Foundation, Equitrans Midstream Corporation, Equitrans Midstream Foundation and Huntington National Bank.

Nonprofits addressing the impacts of COVID-19 and operating in YCF’s service area of Harrison, Marion, Monongalia, Preston and Taylor counties are encouraged to apply for grants from this fund. Current priority areas include food, shelter and safety. To ease the burden on these YCF’s mission is to promote philanthropy and build endowment funds to benefit the communities.

YCF offers a streamlined, expedited application process with an online application available at www.ycfwv.org. Grants are   reviewed on a bi-weekly basis, and awards will be made as long as funds are available.

In order to continue making grant awards to address the impacts of COVID-19, YCF encourages additional donations to the Emergency Impact Fund. All donations will be distributed directly to local nonprofits most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. To make a donation, checks made payable to “YCF” may be sent to PO Box 409, Morgantown, WV 26507. Please include “Emergency Impact Fund” in the memo line. Alternatively, contributions may be made online at www.ycfwv.org/donate. All contributions are tax-deductible.

YCF’s mission is to promote philanthropy and build endowment funds to benefit our communities. Through financial resources, YCF extends many forms of assistance to qualified people, programs and projects. Primarily serving North Central West Virginia, YCF’s underlying goal is always to enhance the quality of life for those the organization serves.
