Martha Irene Tichenor Sal, 95, of Salem, formerly of Morgantown, passed away at her home on May 12, 2020. Martha was born in Philippi, on Nov. 15, 1924, to the late Ray and Maude Beatty Tichenor.
Martha was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family. She enjoyed all of her family, but especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Martha is survived by her daughter, Melissa and James Elliott, of Salem; grandchildren: Tara (Sean) Butler, Kayla (Drew) Rossi, Justin Stevens and his girlfriend Tessa Knisely, Justin (Sarah) Elliott, Brennan (Chelsea) Elliott and Brandon Elliott; nine great- grandchildren; and several nieces.
In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Arthur W. Sal; sisters, Isabell K. Rowan and Betty Ann Tichenor; and brothers: John Tichenor, Ray Tichenor, Norman Tichenor and Vernard Tichenor.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to WVU Medicine Hospice Care at 327 Medical Park Drive Bridgeport, WV 26330.
Due to COVID-19, and the remaining restraints in Monongalia County at this time, McCulla Funeral Home held a private service for the family and burial took place at East Oak Grove Cemetery.
