Leah Lowther

Leah Kay Lowther, 48, passed away May 13, 2020, peacefully in her home after a long battle with cancer. She was born June 29, 1971, the daughter of the Donald Ray Lowther Sr. and Barbara Catherine Turney and the step-daughter of Richard Melvin Turney.

Leah entered this world fighting and she left this world still fighting. She could make friends with anyone and never knew a stranger. Some of Leah’s pastimes included spending time with her family and friends, making crafts for them and playing bingo. She enjoyed spending her winters in Florida, where she made many more friends.

Leah worked in fast food for many years. She had also been a faithful member of the former Booth-Union UMC. Leah had a contagious smile and was a joy to be around.

Leah is survived by her mother and step-father, Barbara and Richard Turney, of Morgantown, one sister and spouse, Mary and Greg Teets, of Morgantown, one brother, Donald Ray Lowther Jr., of Morgantown, one step-sister, Jennifer Turney, of Ohio, one step-brother, Brad Turney, of Ohio, one niece, Emily Teets, of Morgantown, one nephew, Sammy “Boy” Teets, of Morgantown, one great-niece, Isabella Mayen, of Morgantown, one uncle and spouse, Delmar and Sue Lowther Jr., and two aunts Diane and Linda Carder and her spouse Charles.

Leah was preceded in death by her father, Donald Lowther Sr., her grandfather and grandmother, Delmar Lowther Sr. and Katherine Lowther, her grandfather and grandmother, John and Gladys Hoke.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Leah’s Aunt Mary Pearl McCoy, Tammy Cole, and the nurses at Stonerise Healthcare for their loving care to Leah.

Friends and family visited Leah one last time at her funeral service May 16, at McCulla Funeral Home and her burial that followed at Beverly Hills Cemetery that was officiated by Pastor Janice Smith.
