A dead man was recovered from the Monongahela River near Walnut Street on Friday afternoon.
The body of a black male was discovered a short ways past Walnut Street in the direction of West Virginia University’s downtown campus shortly before 1 p.m.
The Morgantown Fire Department used its boat and worked with the Morgantown Police Department to get the man’s body to shore.
The dead man did not have any identification and his body was sent to the the morgue to be examined by a medical examiner, according to Morgantown Communications Director Andrew Stacy.
It’s too early for police to determine a cause of death or if foul play was involved, Stacy said.
