One taken to hospital by helicopter after crash

A man who was ejected from his vehicle in a crash at the intersection of Gladesville Road and Grafton Road on Wednesday morning was taken to the hospital in a HealthNet helicopter.

The two-vehicle crash was reported at 11:16 a.m., according to a 911 supervisor. The last units left the scene just before 2 p.m.

The crash involved a Honda sedan and Jeep Cherokee. The sedan was in the intersection, with heavy damage to its front. The Jeep was in a ditch, north of the wreck on Grafton Road.

One longtime resident, who has lived near the intersection for 30 years, told The Dominion Post he heard the “the same thing I always hear,” but that he didn’t witness the crash. Though, he said, the aftermath of Wednesday’s wreck is the worst he’s seen.

The driver of the Honda was thrown from his car and by the time the resident got out of his house and over to him, several people were around the man.

Crashes at that intersection are frequent because people ignore the stop signs at Gladesville and Halleck roads, he said.

It’s not known if the driver of the Jeep went to the hospital. The status of both drivers is unknown.

The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department, Triune Halleck Volunteer Fire Department, Clinton District Volunteer Fire Department and Mon EMS responded.
