Larry Lee Straight, 75, of Fairmont, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2020, at his daughter’s home in Morgantown. He was born on Feb. 25, 1945, in Fairmont, a son of the late Herbert and Juanita (Daugherty) Straight.
Larry graduated from East Fairmont High School in 1963 and later went on to work as a Pipe Fitter for the Local 152 in Morgantown, where he was a 50-year member. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed listening to bands, dancing, fishing and spending time with his friends and family. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, whether it was playing checkers or going to their soccer games, choir concerts, dirt bike races and 4-H shows and sales. He was a member of LIFE United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his son, Larry Scott Straight and wife Lisa, of Fairmont; Kerri Hoopengarner and husband Henry, of Morgantown; sisters, Linda Tucker and husband Tommy, and Sharon Stewart and husband John; and grandchildren, Dustin Lee Snider, Jeremy Allen Hoopengarner, Samantha Dawn Hoopengarner and Jarod Daniel Straight.
Family and friends are welcome to call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, from 10 a.m. Saturday, May 16, until the service at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Jim Zinn officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
