Convicted sex offender accused of putting up naked photos of a woman he knew on Facebook

KINGWOOD — A convicted sex offender is accused of creating a Facebook page and putting up naked photos of a woman he knew.

Thomas John Winston, 30, of Westover, is charged with failure to register or provide notice of registration charges, a felony. Bond was set at $10,000.

According to the criminal complaint by State Police Trooper C.E. Smith, he was notified that Winston created a Facebook page in another name to share nude photos of a woman and other photos taken from a woman’s Facebook page without her permission.

Witnesses told the officer they knew Winston had used the account as far back as 2018. Winston was convicted in Preston County in 2015 of distributing and exhibiting material depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

He is required to register as a sex offender for life, but did not tell police about the Facebook page, according to the complaint. The URL for the Facebook page with nude photos includes Winston’s name, Trooper Smith said.
