A pickup truck crashed into Canyon Community Church, on Canyon Road, causing damage to its foundation about 1 a.m. on Monday.
That’s according to Deb Hagedorn, a lifetime member and elder at the church.
There was no guardrail protecting the church because on Friday, an SUV hit the guardrail “knocking it clean down,” Hagedorn said.
A neighbor across the street informed the church of the crash, which Hagedorn said caused structural damage and moved things “a good six inches,” including stairs that were built within the last year and the first-floor ceiling.
The church has insurance and the insurance company has been contacted. The damage should be assessed today by an engineer and adjuster, Hagedorn said.
The guardrail frequently gets knocked down and Hagedorn believes someone is going to be injured because of it.
“Someone’s going to get hurt,” she said. “That’s our concern. When you see that curve totally exposed, it gives you chills.”
Hagedorn believes the last time the foundation was “majorly hit” was in the 70s, but there have been minor scrapes since.
