On the morning of Friday, April 24, 2020, Grace B. Weter “Granny Grace,” 83, of Masontown, went to her heavenly home.
She was born in Rodamer, W.Va., on Sept. 8, 1936, a daughter of the late John Wayne Phillips and Sarah (Powell) Phillips.
Grace was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Although she was born in Rodamer, she was a resident of Masontown for more than 50 years. She was greatly loved and admired by her family and friends. Many would refer to her as ornery and a spitfire of a lady.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Calvert, of Masontown, and Pam Morgan and husband Steve, of Sandyville, W.Va.; two brothers, Frank Phillips and wife Ann, of Terra Alta, and Chuck Phillips and wife Patty, of Martinsburg, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Weter; two sons, Gregory and Clifford Sypolt; one step-daughter, Linda Evans; one sister, Ruby Beatty; one brother, Ronald Phillips; daughter-in-law, Elaine Sypolt and one grandson, Gary DeWitt.
Due to this unknown time with the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be a private family viewing and service at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown, with Pastor Terry Hagedorn officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Kingwood. A public celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
The family realizes Grace was loved by many and look forward to reading the condolences left on the Field Funeral Home website at www.fieldfuneralhome.com
