Betty Iris (Metheny) Emery, 89, of Albright, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2020, in Morgantown.
Betty was born Feb. 8, 1931, in Albright, to the late Homer and Mabel (Shahan) Metheny.
She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Betty worked as a sales associate for Wright & Smith, Murphy Mart and Ames in Kingwood. She was a member of the Albright United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Walter Emery, who passed away Aug. 26, 2010.
She is survived by two daughters and their families; grandchildren, Perry Barlow and wife Michelle, their daughters, Allison and Carly, of Kingwood, Jodie Barlow and Shawn Haught and their children, Alex and Abbie, of Mannington, Craig Barlow and his wife Marie and their children, Jordan and Anna, of Tunnelton, Nichole Barlow and Bub Shaffer, of Newburg, Brittney Barlow and Joey Stepek and their daughter, Alexis, of Kingwood, and Marshall Barlow and Misty Shaffer, of Kingwood; great-grandson, Hunter Bishop, of Terra Alta; daughter, Debbie Hayes and her daughter, Lori May, her husband Benji and their sons, Joshua and Jackson, of Morgantown, sisters-in-law, Agnes Freeman, of Orbisonia, Pa., Nellie Taylor, of Massillon, Ohio, and Shirley Emery, of Bel Air, Md.; and many special nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Henry and Lula Emery; son-in-law, William (Bill) Hayes; brother, Darrell Metheny; sister, Eloise (Metheny) White; brothers- and sisters- in-law, James (Jim) Emery, Robert (Bob) and Merle Emery, Clyde Freeman, Jerry Taylor and Harry White.
Because of the COVID-19 outbreak, no public services will be held. The family will have a private service, and a Public Celebration of Life will be held when friends and family can gather safely. The family will cherish your stories and memories of Betty shared on her digital register.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Albright United Methodist Church or the Kingwood Volunteer Fire Department.
