Peter Zawojski

Peter Zawojski Jr., of Morgantown, passed away at his home on Monday, April 6, 2020. He was born in Pittsburgh, on Dec. 3, 1944, to the late Peter and Martha Zawojski.

Pete was a member of the New Beginnings Apostolic Church in Fairmont. He served in the United States Navy from 1962-1966. Following his military service, Pete worked for IBM, working as a customer service engineer, until his retirement in 1994 and then worked as a microcomputer specialist for WVU Hospitals from 1997-1999. He was also self employed as a residential contractor and provided sharpening services.

Pete loved his family and cherished the times he could be with them. Pete enjoyed a challenge and loved “tinkering” with whatever was broken and of course he left a few undone. In his spare time, he collected model trains and was a former member of Train Collectors of America. He also served in the Triune Halleck Volunteer Fire Department and the Browns Halleck Community Association.

Pete leaves behind his wife, Cynthia DeVault Zawojski, of Morgantown; children, Sandy (David) Blackmore, of Pittsburgh, Peter R. Zawojski, of Pittsburgh, Joanne (James) Formal, of Cincinnati, Steven Zawojski, of Pittsburgh, and Michelle Zawojski, of Pittsburgh; stepson, Preston (Joy) Puckett, of Newport News, Va.; grandchildren, Deanne, Nicole, Rachel and Mary Blackmore, Ashley, Lindsay and Robert Zawojski and Dean and Casey Formal; great-grandchildren, Alex, Amara, Andreanna, Brayden, Natalia and Madison Zawojski and Madison and Tessa Winberg; and step-grandchildren, Andrew and Andrea Puckett.
Also surviving include his sister; Leona Eck, of Pittsburgh; brother, James (Louise) Zawojski, of Pittsburgh; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his first wife, Terri Zawojski; an infant daughter, Sharon; and a sister, Phyllis Muszynski.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either New Beginnings Worship Center, 1815 Sunnyview Lane, Fairmont, WV 26554 or Triune Halleck Volunteer Fire Department, 1621 Halleck Road Morgantown, WV 26508.
