The community had a chance Thursday evening to say thanks to those working through the coronavirus pandemic at WVU Medicine.
The Friends of WVU Hospitals Board set up a Chalk the Walk appreciation event.
In order to ensure participants practiced social distancing, as recommended by state and federal officials, each was given a number associated with a map, which had sections of the sidewalk mapped off. Everyone was emailed the logistics Thursday and were asked to review the information beforehand or have it accessible via phone.
Those who brought children were required to indicate how many, so organizers were able to give everyone enough room.
Each spot received a 20-count bucket of sidewalk chalk that they could use and keep. Participants were asked not to share with others. They were not permitted into J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital to use the restroom or get a drink.
