The hunt is on: First Ward community sets up bear hunt for kids

Those walking around in First Ward may notice some fuzzy friends welcoming them from windows.

Not cats and dogs, but bears.

A community member posted a sign in the neighborhood encouraging people to put teddy bears in their windows, so that families can hunt for the bears while walking and social distancing.

The sign was shared via social media, where those in First Ward and South Park commented and showed how they’re participating. Some are using plush toys, while others are drawing and coloring their own homemade creatures.

A bear hangs in a door window at 244 Grand Street.

The idea, according to the sign, was inspired by the children’s book “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt,” by Michael Rosen.
