MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — With the suspension and most sports organizations across West Virginia, Mountaineer United Soccer Club (MUSC) took the opportunity to roll out its virtual soccer training program, in partnership with TopYa! Soccer and Challenger International Soccer.
This week, youth players in MUSC’s Academy (or travel) Division will start their virtual at-home training with over 200 drills and skills to start working on. Coaches from the club will be in communication with players about their technique and time spent, offering constructive feedback and encouragement. MUSC Academy players still had three weeks remaining in their winter training program, before starting the spring season in April.
Later this week, the training program will also be offered to players participating in MUSC’s Spring Community Youth Recreational Soccer Program, as well as players taking part in the Junior Academy Skills Clinics. Registration for youth recreational soccer for ages 2-19 is still ongoing, and MUSC hopes to be able to start the spring season as scheduled on April 6. To register, visit muscwv.org.
MUSC has been the Monongalia County Community Soccer Program for 34 years, and also offers Adult Soccer (registration for the summer season opens this week at muscwv.org).
MUSC partners with Stepping Stones to alternate and streamline the TOPSoccer program, which is a US Youth Soccer Outreach Program. TOPSoccer is a community-based training program for all athletes with intellectual, emotional and/or physical disabilities. The program strives to provide soccer opportunities (the opportunity of soccer) for players to develop at their own pace in a safe, fun, and supportive/inclusive environment.
Any youth athletes interested in participating in the MUSC Virtual Coaching program during the time school is suspended are welcome and encouraged to contact MUSC at info@muscwv.org.
