Sarah Louella Kirk, 86, affectionately known as “Tee Tee”, of Morgantown, passed away late Sunday evening, March 15, 2020, at Sundale Nursing Home in Morgantown.
She was born Nov. 28, 1933, in Terra Alta, a daughter of the late John Milo and Mabel Lucinda (Smearman) DeWitt.
Sarah is survived by her husband of nearly 61 years, Russell Edward “Wick” Kirk; one daughter, Chele Kirk Varner and her husband Rick, of Blacksville; a grandson, Kirk Varner, who was the absolute light of her life; a sister, Carolyn Taylor, and her husband Bob, of Hondo, Texas; a special cousin, Amber Murray and her family, of Morgantown; and two nephews, Bob Taylor and Rich Taylor.
Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, and loving on her precious grandson, Kirk.
In 1950, after graduating high school at the age of 17, she moved to Morgantown and became a business professional. She was an administrative assistant at the former Sterling Faucet until 1969, at which time she became the administrative assistant for WWVU Public Television Station, later known as WNPB. She retired in 1995. She was a former past president of the Zonta Women’s Professional Organization.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the nurses, doctors and staff of Sundale Nursing Home for the excellent level of care and love given to Sarah during her time there.
Friends may join the family to honor Sarah’s life and legacy at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Westover/Morgantown from 4-5:30 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 18.
In following with current CDC recommendations, Sarah’s funeral service will be held privately on Thursday, March 19, with entombment to follow in the Everlasting Life Mausoleum at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Sarah’s memory to Empty Bowls Monongalia, 7 Rousch Drive, Westover, WV 26501 or to Project Lifesaver, C/O Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office, 116 Walnut St., Morgantown, WV 26505.
