Stella Long, 93, of Morgantown, died Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at her home. She was born June 23, 1926, in Pursglove, a daughter of the late George and Mary Sawczyszyn.
She was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church and was involved in numerous charitable activities and volunteered extensively at her church. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews that loved her dearly.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Bill Long and siblings, John Sawezyszyn and Tony Sawczyszyn.
Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 13. A vigil service will be held in the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Friday to conclude the evening visitation. Visitation will continue at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 3334B University Ave., Star City, from 10 a.m. Saturday, March 14 until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Father John V. DiBacco as celebrant. Interment will take place at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover.
